The "Wonders" of Technology

Estimated reading time: 2 minute(s)

Last month my domain expired here (sorry for that!) — but I think I explained then, it was not my “fault”. It kind of was, since I did not have my domains set to auto-renew. Well, once my GregsHead.net domain lapsed on me, I set all of my important domains to AUTO-RENEW quick as a flash! Wasn’t going to let that happen again. The part that was not my fault was the lack of alert messages letting me know my domain was about to expire. That was frustrating, and I hoped was going to be fixed.

Apparently it was not.

Yesterday my MAIN business domain (bwd-graphics.com) EXPIRED!!!! Again. No e-mails. Auto-renew was ON. It expired.

While that in itself is frustrating, the fact that it’s my main business website is frustrating. I receive payments through that site, new and current clients. I host the temporary sites I am working on for various clients at that domain. I also do the bulk of my e-mail through that domain.

But the worst part is, my super reliable domain registrar and web host dude has been out of town recently, but yesterday (right before my domain expired) I was in communication with him about their phone system. Something is haywire with that, so the only way to reach him is e-mail. Unfortunately, he has some SUPER spam protection, so the only email address of my 24 addresses that will get through to him is the one from my EXPIRED DOMAIN!!!!!!!!! So I can’t contact him to have him renew the domain!!!!!!

So, I am frustrated.

You know… all I want to do is vent about how annoying technology is, but… I should just admit, it’s part of the game, and move on. So… I think I will.

I bet none of this would have happened if the whole world used Apple computers……

🙂
