Praise Him

Posted on July 28th, 2004 :: 8:11 am by Greg

We sang a song this past week at camp (read the footnote below…) that I have sung before, many times… but I was reminded of the depth of coolness of one of the lines. We sang, “With every breath I’m praising You.” Actually, many times I have sung that and felt a twinge of guilt…

Anniversary of Sorts…

Posted on July 16th, 2004 :: 12:44 pm by Greg

Today is July 16th. It was a great day for me in 1997. I had thought for a long time that a very nice young lady and a great friend of mine, Jen Walker, would be a great life companion. But, many things had gotten in the way of that… especially that part where she…

God’s Faithfulness

Posted on June 29th, 2004 :: 2:22 pm by Greg

This past weekend was the last weekend on staff for our children’s pastor at Crosswinds. Her name is Rachael Wiest (pronounced “West”). She came to Crosswinds about the same time that we did, freshly graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University (where my cousin was a women’s softball star!! really! She broke all kinds of school records!…

Gardening Observation

Posted on June 24th, 2004 :: 12:13 pm by Greg

We planted our first garden this year! We were so excited as the winter temps left (mostly… we are in NY, ya know…) and the gardening aisles began to fill up at WalMart… Ian couldn’t wait to grow veggies and even flowers out front! SO, one Monday (our day off) I headed out at 6:30am…

Some stuff in the Bible is weird…

Posted on June 24th, 2004 :: 11:02 am by Greg

So, I was reading along, and came to this… 2 Kings 2:23-24 Elisha left Jericho and went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, a group of boys from the town began mocking and making fun of him. “Go away, you baldhead!” they chanted. “Go away, you baldhead!” Elisha turned around and…

Don’t You Remember?

Posted on June 18th, 2004 :: 6:59 am by Greg

I love reading the Bible. It’s actually rather entertaining. It’s history. I like history. But it’s history that unlike my high school textbooks, does not eliminate God from the picture. It puts him in his rightful place as director of history. I also find that reading about the crazy kings and all the people who…

Mac-Haters

Posted on June 16th, 2004 :: 11:10 pm by Greg

Why do some people so passionately HATE Macintosh computers? They were the first and still make an amazing product that doesn’t even compare to the copies offered by Windows based system makers… It is rather amazing to me. I have had such a great experience with everything Apple that I would never want anything else…

Professional Christians

Posted on June 10th, 2004 :: 5:42 pm by Greg

I just flipped through a flyer for an upcoming national christian convention. We are not going… but boy did the flyer make me feel like I should. Glossy, attractive photos of all the best and brightest the christian industry has to offer. All in one place! And for a moment, I thought, “We should go!”…

Things I am thinking through…

Posted on June 9th, 2004 :: 4:57 pm by Greg

At the moment, I am trying to figure out these things: The Purpose of Church Structure: Remember my blog on Church Membership? This is related… like, what’s the deal with picking some dudes (or dudettes) and giving them a title and saying, “OK, now… you all… watch over us, and make sure all goes well….
