Today, played ball with a friend and his neighbor. Don’t know where the neighbor, let’s call him Federico, is with Jesus… nice guy… just don’t know for sure. And I noticed something about the way I used to think about “Evangelism” (notice, the capital E)
When Federico would miss a shot, slightly foul language would come out of his mouth occasionally… and in the past, this would have been a huge cue to “put on the Jesus pants” and find any way I could to help this man out. Cause he clearly needs my help!!! I mean come on! He’s swearing! I have to help him! He needs Jesus right now before he goes out and hets squished by that bus that kills everyone before they have a chance to be baptized into salvation……
OK, so I am being sarcastic, but I noticed that I have changed – I think for the good. Where I would have instantly changed my relationship with this fellow (Federico) before… and almost treated him with pity, because he is not like me… I think today I just treated him the same.
He is a fellow fallen fellow. Like me. Not to be pitied or looked down upon or coddled or treated differently in any way… I am no better. I am not special. I just know a guy who makes it better. And I think, as I live like He did – loving everyone and talking about the greatness of the Kingdom of Heaven being at hand… well… Federico may just see it too.
Hope so. 🙂
Thanks God for your grace… help me to live in it so much that everything I do and even think flows from it.
