Reflecting on My Two Weeks as "The Mom"

Posted on August 15th, 2009 :: 4:54 pm by Greg

For the past two weeks I have assumed the role of main caregiver for our five oldest kids, and main caretaker of our household stuff. It’s something I’ve done following the birth of each of the past four kids (pretty sure it started with our daughter, Kirsten) and something I always really look forward to….

God’s Provision: Perfect.

Posted on August 7th, 2009 :: 10:41 pm by Greg

I’ve mentioned here many times how God has arranged things for us to be able to pay our bills, feed our kids, and keep our house. It’s really astounding at times. I’m pretty sure that “on paper” … it just shouldn’t work. But it does. It always does. I forgot to, or didn’t get to,…

Welcome, Cameron James Campbell

Posted on July 31st, 2009 :: 10:48 pm by Greg

July 30th has become a meaningful day in the Campbell household. It’s the day that Cameron James was born! At 7:59am he breathed his first breath. It was slightly labored, but… I’m getting ahead of myself. Every baby born to us so far has come before the due date. Anywhere from three days all the…

Rough Week

Posted on July 12th, 2009 :: 5:54 am by Greg

It’s been a harder-than-normal week, I think. I’m feeling it this morning, the 6th work day of my week. I’m just a little extra tired. Based on events of the week and/or recent weeks, at one point (or many points) I have thought: I hate religion. I hate self-righteousness. I hate sin/evil I hate sickness,…

Theodore Roosevelt: This Will Destroy America

Posted on July 1st, 2009 :: 10:01 am by Greg

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.Theodore Roosevelt Got that from my dad via email today, and I’d say it’s pretty spot on. Unfortunately, it also seems to describe our current culture in America. I copied that quote…

Humble Scientists

Posted on June 8th, 2009 :: 1:40 pm by Greg

We received a complimentary copy of the latest edition of Creation magazine (the Answers in Genesis folks) and I have been perusing it the past couple days. I really enjoy the subject matter they cover, and I believe that my worldview is similar enough to theirs that I can mostly relate to what they are…

Tips Should Be Tips!

Posted on June 6th, 2009 :: 6:28 pm by Greg

Today as we ate at a sit-down restaurant for the second day in a row (may be a record!) I found myself in the familiar place of attempting to figure out what a “fair” tip would be for our waitress. Generally I do a few dollars, which is probably about the percentage it is “supposed”…

Time Flies When You’re Not Driving a Bus

Posted on June 6th, 2009 :: 6:09 pm by Greg

I realized today just how long it’s been since I drove a school bus. Jen & I spent a decent chunk of this day driving through the streets of Fairport, NY. It was their annual Canal Days festival, and we were privileged to have a babysitter caring for our kids, so we decided to check…

This May Be Telling…

Posted on June 1st, 2009 :: 2:04 pm by Greg

One of the projects for today was to burn a couple boxes full of old receipts and other financial documents. Jen started it with the kids, but then Dad was called in to help get the fire going more. (And, once Dad was pulled in, well, he had to make sure the project was completed!)…

Intake

Posted on May 21st, 2009 :: 11:38 am by Greg

For a long while now, I’ve been feeling a strong pull to read. Read anything, really. We have a lot of books in our house, so, when I see those I think, “Wow, I’d really like to just sit and read one of those right now!” I’ve borrowed some books from the library lately, and…
