Ice Cream Update

Posted on July 7th, 2007 :: 12:15 am by Greg

As you know from previous entries, July is national ice cream month, and we’ve been doing our part to celebrate that! Here’s a quick run-down on the month so far. July 1 – We made home made ice cream with friends (Philadelphia-style Vanilla, and Strawberry Sherbet) 7/2 – Made some more home made ice cream,…

Wolverines

Posted on July 6th, 2007 :: 9:05 pm by Greg

“Local legend says that the Wolverine is a cross between a bear and a wolf. But in reality, it’s aHUGE WEASEL.” (We heard that on the Animal Planet’s “Planet Earth” tonight. Thought it was pretty accurate…) 😉

A Long Time Ago… In a Galaxy Far, Far Away

Posted on July 4th, 2007 :: 2:08 pm by Greg

Talk about fireworks… Wired News today posted this article about some 4th of July fireworks from what is now known as the Crab Nebula. But this was not a recent 4th of July… it was in the year 1054!!! Ha! Awesome. We’re hoping to catch some more modern fireworks tonight… if the rain lets up….

From The Earth To The Moon

Posted on July 3rd, 2007 :: 11:06 am by Greg

We just finished watching “From the Earth to the Moon”, an HBO mini-series, and it was fantastic. The language was too much for our tiny kids (and, well, I didn’t like it much either…) but the story form of this incredible time in history was very well done. It’s 12 parts on 4 discs. And,…

No Other Gods…

Posted on July 3rd, 2007 :: 10:32 am by Greg

My neighbor has a blog (that I shant link, since I believe it is not a public blog…) and she was sharing some stuff about her (successful) endeavor to quit smoking. One line caught my eye. She likened her smoking to idolatry. Now, I don’t think that smoking by itself is a sin, or idolatrous….

iPhone… Without the Phone?

Posted on July 3rd, 2007 :: 6:27 am by Greg

This is interesting… Some folks have already found a way around the “required” activation of the iPhone and are able to use it as a 6th generation Wi-Fi iPod. Intriguing…

Optical Illusions

Posted on July 2nd, 2007 :: 3:17 pm by Greg

After first-hand viewing of a cool optical illusion of the summer moon, I got this in my e-mail today from my Dad. (He likes to forward stuff… this one’s pretty cool…) 🙂 The instructions in the e-mail were as follows: If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot, the dots will remain…

Chill & Grill x2

Posted on July 2nd, 2007 :: 3:02 pm by Greg

Our friend Chi reminded me that I never shared the story of another “food fest” day (with food (mostly) provided by Chill & Grill) just a couple weeks ago. June 16th, I believe. It was certainly akin to FOOD FEST I, detailed below. The Chis arrived in time for lunch, so they got their pugs…

Food Fest I

Posted on July 2nd, 2007 :: 2:35 pm by Greg

Yes, I know yesterday was Canada Day (I believe it is “observed” today), but I believe that July 1st may now become the official day of FOOD FEST. Some have called it Eat Fest, and yesterday I first thought it could be called GlutFest (as in “gluttonous”) but I think I have settled on FOOD…

iPhone Review

Posted on July 2nd, 2007 :: 10:10 am by Greg

I found this review on the AppleInsider.com website today. Quite thorough and really explains all the greatness of the iPhone (as best as you can with words… you really have to actually hold it and use it to understand how amazing it is.) He covers all the features (and missing features) in a very in-depth…
