Frozen

Posted on March 24th, 2014 :: 9:56 am by Greg

This past weekend we watched the Disney movie, Frozen. Twice, actually. (I know, we’re a bit behind.) Both times as the end credits were rolling (even knowing what was coming the second time) I felt impressed. Not by any technology or effects, though the animation was flawless. It was the story. The princesses are beautiful…

[ThisDay] Both Sides of the Story

Posted on January 20th, 2014 :: 6:30 amJanuary 19th, 2014 :: 10:26 pm by Greg

I had an intriguing idea today. “I wonder what I was thinking and writing on this day through the ten plus years I’ve been publishing stuff here? I wonder if it’s the same stuff I’m thinking in January of 2014?” Seemed like an interesting enough activity to share it here with you. (Hello, you!) For…

Our Experience at the Hill Cumorah Pageant

Posted on July 22nd, 2013 :: 4:00 pmJuly 25th, 2013 :: 12:07 pm by Greg

“You’re all sinners! You are an abomination to God!!” These words were angrily spit at the thousands of people peacefully passing through the entrance to the Hill Cumorah Pageant’s last showing for 2013—an event which was attended by this writer and his wife. Friends of ours participated in the Pageant this year. They played various…

It’s All Fun And Games Until Somebody Loses… the iPad?

Posted on February 25th, 2013 :: 4:00 pmFebruary 25th, 2013 :: 4:12 pm by Greg

Mondays are video game day at the Campbell Household. We, the parents, try to limit the hours (and days) of video game entertainment here. (This is a learned behavior; after seeing that much less stringent limitations on video game time producing mean-spirited, selfish children, if not mindless automatons.) As it so happens, today whilst I…

Direct-To-Consumer Content: The Future?

Posted on February 4th, 2013 :: 9:25 amFebruary 1st, 2013 :: 4:27 pm by Greg

I’m never one to do something “because that’s the way we’ve always done it”. My wife accuses me often of nearly the opposite: doing something differently simply for the sake of being different! She may be right, but it’s not out of spite or any sort of malice. I do enjoy variety, that’s for sure….

How Do You Watch TV?

Posted on February 1st, 2013 :: 9:25 amFebruary 1st, 2013 :: 12:14 am by Greg

Are you a current TV show watcher? Do you watch one or more new and/or current television shows as they air new episodes weekly? I don’t qualify as (anywhere close to) an avid current TV Watcher, but I do enjoy a few currently running shows. One characteristic of many current shows (at least, the ones…

Letters To God

Posted on February 19th, 2012 :: 4:00 amFebruary 19th, 2012 :: 1:31 am by Greg

The reviews of Letters To God are either glowing, or not kind. And, I can see where most of them are coming from. In some ways this movie was pretty hokey. Some of the acting was bad. Some of the story was a tad unbelievable. Some of the “Christian” part seemed a bit too forced….

SCC25: Steven Curtis Chapman Celebrating 25 Years of Music {video}

Posted on January 23rd, 2012 :: 5:00 amJanuary 26th, 2012 :: 3:34 pm by Greg

Steven Curtis Chapman is definitely one of my favorite song writers/musicians. There is something in his music, and the way he says things that I really connect with. More than any other musician I can think of. I’ve written about this many times, including here. Well apparently 2012 marks 25 years of making music for…

Both Sides of the Story

Posted on January 20th, 2012 :: 6:01 amJanuary 19th, 2012 :: 5:25 pm by Greg

I’ve mentioned here many times that I am learning how crucial it is to see life from multiple angles. Getting not only information from people with opposing viewpoints, but really trying to step into their shoes; see from their perspective. It’s just so crucial to communication, to cooperation, interaction… to society in general. And so…

Decision Points

Posted on January 13th, 2012 :: 6:40 amJanuary 11th, 2012 :: 6:12 pm by Greg

When I first heard of the book that President George W. Bush recently published, I wasn’t sure that I’d ever need to read it. I had an inkling that it might be interesting, historically speaking, but I figured I wouldn’t probably spend my money on it. But, as my choices dwindled for books to download…
