Bulletin: Nintendo Wii Now Sporting Lower Price

Wii now sporting lower priceI got a marketing email from Amazon.com today that I decided to pass along here on my blog. I have a long list of things in every area of life at the moment, which has prevented me from sharing thoughts and stories here that I really want to share, but this figures to be pretty short, so…

Apparently, the price of the Wii video game system has been lowered from $249 to $199. That’s neat. Our boys are saving up their paper route money to buy a Wii … they will be very glad to hear this news! 🙂 I clicked the link in the email to see the price for myself, and it’s true… and the cool part about Amazon is, you can get the same item from third-party sellers (new and used) usually for even less. I believe I saw a low price of $144.

So if you’ve always wanted a Wii but never got around to it… perhaps now is a good time? I guess they’re gearing up for the holiday season already!

If you want to check it out, just click this page at Amazon.com.

(AND… full disclosure… because I am an Amazon affiliate… a small commission will be credited to GregsHead.net with your purchase! Win win. Love those.)

Calling All Product Marketers and Salespeoples

After re-reading another composition (titled, “Substitutes“) that was compiled into the book There’s The Steeple… Here’s The Church that I published in 2006, I am again pondering the ways in which we can get the various products sitting in our storage areas into the hands of people who would be inspired by, be made to think by and just enjoy them.

The main way people “discovered” our creative works before was when we were touring the country and performing our music (and even speaking on occasion) at various events. This was certainly the best way. But with the addition of a child or two (or six) we have taken a major break from that and such venues are no longer an option.

We have websites. (Here and here, primarily.) We have sold our music via iTunes. That’s cool. But sitting here in my attic office are boxes and boxes of CDs, tapes (yep! we have tapes!!) and books.

So how do we get those out of storage and into grateful hands, hearts, and minds? Any ideas?

I’d be willing to listen to any ideas as I really do think people will still enjoy any and all of our products. We have 5 different albums of our original music (well, one is a Christmas CD with mostly original arrangements of familiar songs) and I have three books of collections of writings that are mostly short anecdotal writings on various life topics that will make you smile, and often make you think.

If you are a marketing or sales wizard, please drop me a line and let me know what you think might work. You can leave a comment here at this post, too. Any and all ideas are welcome 🙂

If you’re interested in getting your own copy, click the links above, or you can search for our stuff at Amazon.com as well… usually better to just buy from us at basicmm.com or, for just the books, here at gregshead.net/bookstore.

Thanks in advance for your help!

GregsApples.com … is back? (Sort of.)

Gregs Apple (and more!) Store
Hey folks! Just wanted to give you a quick heads up. I was reminded today that I used to be an Authorized Apple Business Agent, for which Apple paid me a commission on any sales I generated for them. That was neat. Then I was an Apple Business Store Affiliate, similar deal, just not working directly for Apple. THEN, I actually worked for Apple as a trainer at the local Apple Retail Store… which was awesome! But… I didn’t have enough time to give them. Too bad.

So now… I decided to use my Amazon Associates account to make a new little “GregsApples” store (though I have let that domain expire…)

If you are into that sort of thing (Apple, iPod, iPhone, Mac, etc) and you’d like to support GregsHead.net and the Campbell family (well, at least, a little…) I’d invite you to check it out! It’s pretty cool actually. Like my own little mini-Amazon … and only Apple stuff!

Click the banner above to visit, or it will be in the sidebar even after this particular post gets pushed off the front page of my blog … or, here’s the direct link:

Check it out and let me know what you think. If you have any Apple/Mac questions, I’m pretty good at answering those, too 🙂

CraigsList or ebay? Pros and Cons

Jen & I both recently had a bit of success listing and selling stuff on CraigsList, and following that, a friend asked how I chose CraigsList over ebay. “Well,” began my reply, “I suppose there are a number of reasons to use either,” I explained.

And so there are. I figured it might even be fun to post those here! This might not be interesting to some of you, and it’s not typically the sort of content I post here, but figured it might be useful to some. So, here goes!

CraigsList.org

PROS CONS
You get the full payment, no fees. People like to “haggle” on CraigsList, no one thinks the asking price is the actual price.
Usually no shipping involved as CraigsList is a localized service. Smaller marketplace as CraigsList is mainly a local listing.
Instant gratification! Almost always a CraigsList sale is made (or not made!) within hours of listing.
Generally, fewer fraudulent transactions here. It’s “policed” by the CraigsList “community”, and the transactions seem to be a bit more “personal”.
Nicer for larger items that you don’t want to figure out how to ship!

ebay.com

PROS CONS
DEFINITELY the marketplace. You reach the world with your listing. There are fees, fees everywhere!
More reliable transactions… when you sell something, you can usually expect prompt payment. Shipping is involved. Figuring out costs, and then, actually shipping.
More anonymous transactions in a way… some people prefer this. Mentioned above, ebay is replete with Phishing scams, and other monkey business. (Of course, they have an entire fraud dept. to handle this, but it’s still much more prevalent.)
ebay has been around, so kinda back to marketplace, the buyers and sellers know first to look there, and second that the transaction can mostly be trusted.
PayPal integration is nice.
Even with associated fees, can often make more money on “sellable” items here, as there is the larger marketplace.

So, as you can see… it mostly comes down to: ebay = marketplace, and craigslist = faster/simpler transaction. At least, that’s how it’s been for us.

In fact… it’s just about time to list some more stuff right now…

Great Deal on a Mac!

Refurbished iMacsI am no longer paid by Apple to tell you this, but that never mattered anyway! I was looking for something at the Apple store yesterday and discovered that they are selling refurbished iMacs at extra low prices. You can get a 20″ core 2 duo iMac for $999! (That’s good.)

I think that link will work… if it doesn’t, just go to apple.com/store and scroll down to the refurbished Macs link near the bottom left.

Great deals, and for a limited time! So, maybe a way to spend your tax return? 🙂

Trailer Listing

1999 Express Cargo Trailer 6 x 10
Hey folks! Don’t usually post our eBay or other such sales here, but this one is different. We have (for the first time on CraigsList) listed our awesome little “basic trailer” for immediate sale.

This is both good, and sad.

I spent the last half of July fixing it up again. It has been our musical storage shed for two years now. We haven’t taken it on the road since 2005. So I did everything. Fixed the broken jack, painted just about everything. Cleaned and waxed and shined. We had the electrical wiring completely replaced. The wheel bearings seem to be in great shape, as well as the tires. (Great tread). We even tested the trailer out this week moving some furniture! Still works great!

We just don’t need to use it in the near future. So, someone else could probably use it more!

Do you need one? Do you know anyone who does? Send them the link to this post (link) or send them directly to our listing on CraigsList. (The trailer photo is linked to the page on CraigsList.)

Thanks!
